What Personal Customer Information Does Stoughton Lumber Gather?

Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you enter on our Web site or give us in any other way. Security

We use a Sonic Wall (firewall) that protects our system from hackers. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using encryption, which converts information you input into a hard-to-break code. All credit card and personal information is transmitted in ‘secure’ (encrypted) mode.

We reveal only the last digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card processor.

Orders

Order Processing

Orders are typically filled and shipped within 24 hours of receipt. Due to stock shortages, some items may be back ordered and ship at a later date. Stoughton Lumber Co. reserves the right to ship partial orders or hold an order for complete shipment at our discretion. Prior to back-ordering an item or partial shipping an order Stoughton Lumber Co. will contact you for instructions before shipping.

Order Cancellation

Stoughton Lumber Co.'s web site does not offer on-line order cancellation. To cancel an order, please contact our order department at (608) 873-4141 within 24 business hours of placing your order. You may also e-mail your request to orders@stoughton-lumber.com.

Order Status

To check on the status of your order, please contact our store at (608) 873-4141 during normal business hours. You may also e-mail your request to orders@stoughton-lumber.com.

Returns

Within 30 days of receipt of your shipment (including gifts), you may return any item, for a full refund. If the return is a result of our error, subject to our sole determination, we'll also refund the shipping cost. Items are not returnable if they are in un-sellable condition or are missing parts.

We will notify you via e-mail of your refund once we have received and processed the returned item. You can expect a refund in the same form of payment originally used for purchase within 7 to 14 business days of our receiving your return. Please note that we can refund shipping costs only if the return is a result of our error.

Packing and Sending Your Return

It only takes a few simple steps:

1. Pack the items along with the packing slip (receipt) securely in a box. We recommend you use the original box the items arrived in. You may use another box if you prefer.

2. Affix the shipping label to the outside of the box and ship the items directly to our store. The store address can be found on our web site or on the original packing slip (receipt).

3. Give the package to your mail carrier. You can use anyone you like, but UPS is preferred.

Payment Processing

All payments are in advance and by credit card. Your card is charged only for the items that are shipped, plus shipping and handling charges. Rest assured that we do NOT charge your credit card until your order enters the shipping process.

Dispute Resolution

Disputes regarding privacy or security will be handled by Stoughton Lumber’s Customer Service.

We offer the ability to have an account with our store—so that purchases can be invoiced monthly—to contractors, businesses, and some individuals.

We accept cash payments and debit or check cards. We also accept checks, if the customer has the appropriate means of identification.

Delivery Policy

Our Delivery Goals:

Our Delivery Guidelines:

All deliveries are subject to a delivery fee and/or a fuel surcharge.

Delivery service is available 7 day a week.

Same day or next day delivery is available or scheduled at your convience.

A $10 charge applies to all products delivered in Stoughton. A $30 charge will be assessed to all areas outside Stoughton.

A pallet charge of $15-$95 per pallet will apply on palletized deliveries. Pallets may be returned for full credit.

Shipping Policy

Our Shipping Goals:

1. To ship the correct product to the correct address within 1 business day of receipt

2. To have shipped products arrive undamaged and in first-class condition

3. To extend our store right to your home or business

Shipping fees

Shipping fees calculated on our web site are approximate based on information provided by UPS. We cannot confirm the shipping fees until your order enters the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of orders have incorrect shipping fees. Rest assured, however, that we verify these fees as part of our shipping procedures.

If an order's correct shipping fee is lower than the calculated fee, we charge the lower amount and ship you the order.

If an order's correct shipping fee is higher than the calculated fee, we will contact you for instructions before shipping.

Back ordered items shipped separately will be shipped based on the original requested ship method and charged a separate shipping fee. We will contact you for instructions before shipping your back order.

The shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound.

Our Package Shipping (UPS) Guidelines:

We will bill your credit card at time of shipment, not when we receive the order.

We will hold all orders for shipping until they are complete unless instructed otherwise. That is, if you order 10 different items we will normally hold the order until we can ship all 10 of them at the same time.

Due to variations between estimated and actual product weights, WE WILL TYPICALLY HAVE TO RECALUCULATE THE SHIPPING FEE AFTER WE RECEIVE THE ORDER. We will contact you for approval of the corrected shipping fees before we ship the product and charge your credit card. This is in no way an attempt to mislead or misrepresent our company. If you do not agree with the recalculated shipping fee you may cancel the order with no penalty or charge.

There are many products listed on our web site that we will not (or cannot) ship via UPS. This would include most lumber and plywood, concrete steps, hazardous products and chemicals (as defined by UPS), perishable products, and some paint products. If you happen to order one of these products and request UPS shipment we will have to decline that part of the order. If this occurs and you decide to cancel the remaining order there is no penalty or charge.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:

For international shipments please provide us with the name of your freight forwarding agency or preferred shipper. We retain the right to refuse an order due to shipping complexity.

Remember that UPS will not ship to a PO Box address. We must have a physical address.

There will be an additional charge for items being sent to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, an APO Box, or internationally.

We reserve the right to refuse any order for any reason at any time.

Expectations You Should Have of
Our Delivery Service:

Every order is important to us, because it's important to you.

We will deliver your order as soon as we can within the guidelines listed above. However, any times given should be considered good-faith estimates and are not promises or guarantees.

We will attempt to ship orders within 1 business day of receipt.

We will attempt to earn your repeated business every time we serve you.

We reserve the right to change this policy without notice.

Returned Merchandise

All material submitted for return must be in first-class, sellable condition, subject to our inspection and should include a copy of the original invoice. Custom-ordered or cut merchandise is not returnable. In some instances we may issue store credit in lieu of a credit card refund. No returns will be accepted after 30 days.

Warranty

Stoughton Lumber Co. does not make any stated or implied warranties on any products offered for sale, other than those offered by each individual manufacturer. We are not responsible for claims beyond the replacement value of any defective goods or in any way liable or responsible for damages of any kind which may result from the use of products, goods or services obtained from our store, web site, delivery service, or otherwise obtained. We do not warrant the fitness of any item described or purchased to be for any particular use. Selection of items for a particular use is at the sole discretion of the purchaser. Improper use of some of the products we sell may cause serious bodily harm, injury, or even death. Always wear proper safety equipment and observe safe usage and operating procedures.
